Welcome! This site provides a central location for information on limited submissions across the UC Berkeley campus.
The term "limited submissions" refers to programs that restrict the number of applications an organization is permitted to submit. Many of these programs are funding opportunities, but nominations and prize opportunities may also be subject to such limits. A limit is set by the sponsor—and not the campus—but it means that the campus must set up an internal selection process to determine which proposal team (or teams) may apply.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research coordinates most internal selection processes, with staff support from the Berkeley Research Development Office. Please email limited submissions at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Identification of Limited Submission Opportunities
Our staff use several means to identify programs that limit submissions. In each instance, they check eligibility, limits, and other restrictions, and create a plan for distributing the opportunity, soliciting interest, and satisfying the limits as necessary. Recent limited submission announcements are available here. If you believe a funding opportunity might be limited but don’t see it among our announcements, please contact email@example.com as soon as possible.
To submit an internal application for campus consideration, please follow the instructions in the campus announcement. If you do not see the program you are interested in among the current announcements, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. Most internal applications require this standard limited submissions cover sheet.
After the internal selection process, limited submissions staff will let you know whether your application has been selected to move forward. If your application is approved, the notification may include instructions on required actions. Otherwise, standard policies on campus proposal submissions apply. Contact your Research Administrator if you have any questions. As always proposals for sponsored projects must be submitted to SPO or Industry Alliances Office, in accordance with the VCR proposal submission policy.
