DARPA BTO Releases BAA for CoasterChase Program

June 27, 2025

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office (BTO) released a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), which seeks innovative proposals for its CoasterChase program. DARPA is soliciting proposals that leverage a novel understanding of the enteric nervous system as well as emerging neuromodulation technologies to selectively target neurons in the small intestine and alter the body’s stress response. DARPA anticipates awarding multiple proposals for the CoasterChase program up to a total of $25 million for all awards. Abstracts, while not required for the CoasterChase program, are strongly encouraged and due July 24, 2025, at 4:00 pm ET. Full proposals are due August 28, 2025, at 4:00 pm ET.

Of note, DARPA BTO is hosting a proposers day for the CoasterChase program on July 7 in Arlington, Virginia. While not required to submit a proposal for the program, the proposers day will provide insight into vision and goals of the program and the mechanics of DARPA programs. Registration for the proposer’s day closes on June 30, 2025. Attendance is limited, and only three individuals per organization can attend. Please email ltdsubs@berkeley.edu if you are interested in attending.
