Lewis-Burke has provided an updated report on Department of Energy (DOE) funding and engagement opportunities of most relevant to research organizations. Since the last energy snapshot, DOE released four funding opportunities related to methane gas releases measurement and mitigation, biorefineries, electric vehicle charging for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, and the annual EPSCoR funding call. DOE is also about to release another three funding calls related to quantum computing, hydrogen and fuel cell technologies and a solar manufacturing incubator. To help develop future funding solicitations, DOE is seeking input on research priorities for carbon harvesting, superhot geothermal power, and its AI initiative—Frontiers in AI for Science, Security, and Technology (FASST). Lewis-Burke will follow up later this month with a more comprehensive outlook on planned DOE funding solicitations for FY 2025.
