Lewis-Burke has provided campus with a report about NSF's latest Engineering Research Center (ERC) solicitation. ERCs support center-scale convergent Engineering research projects that will lead to strong societal impact. Centers are funded at around $25 million for an initial period of five-years, with funding for an additional five-years based on performance. The solicitation highlights four foundational components: Convergent Research, Engineering Workforce Development, Diversity and Culture of Inclusion, and the Innovation Ecosystem. This solicitation invites proposals focused on convergent Engineering research and education in a range of engineering research areas, including, “but not limited to advanced manufacturing, advanced wireless, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, microelectronics and semiconductors, net-zero technologies, quantum engineering, and systems engineering for healthcare.”
