Lewis-Burke Associates has provided campus with a report about a Notice of Intent (NOI) for a new (long awaited) Manufacturing USA Institute on AI for Resilient Manufacturing from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The purpose of the NOI is to encourage teaming across academia, industry, Federal labs, and state/local government around resilient manufacturing processes in industries of national priority ahead of a full notice of funding opportunity (NOFO), which is expected to be announced in Spring of 2024. NIST plans to make one award, with total funding of up to $70 million, and as for other Manufacturing USA Institutes, at least a 1:1 cost share is expected.
