NSF Releases Solicitation for Ideas Lab Focused on Use-Inspired Applications of Cell-Free Systems

Lewis-Burke Associates has provided campus with a report about the NSF's Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP) new Ideas Lab solicitation. This opportunity, focused on Use-Inspired Applications of Cell-Free Systems, aims to reduce the costs and increase the capabilities of cell-free systems for carrying out biochemical processes. This Ideas Lab aligns with NSF’s ongoing interest in expanding its investments in biotechnology and working to advance the bioeconomy.

NSF Ideas Labs serve as conveners for diverse groups of experts from various science and engineering backgrounds to create innovative cross-disciplinary, transformative solutions to grand challenges. The solicitation includes a preliminary proposal, an in-person interactive workshop, and an invited full proposal. Individuals with relevant expertise aligned with the solicitation’s areas of interest should submit a preliminary proposal to NSF to be invited to participate. Mandatory pre-proposals for this Ideas Lab are due May 17, 2024.
