The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Research is accepting applications for the Humanities Research Centers on Artificial Intelligence program. This is a limited submission where Berkeley can submit only one application. Interested applicants must submit through the campus process here.
Proposals that examine national impacts of AI, including on “economic competitiveness and national security as well as civil rights, civil liberties, privacy, and human flourishing,” are encouraged. Individual awards will be funded at $500,000 for 36 months, with a maximum of $200,000 per year. Applicants may also request an additional $250,000 in federal matching funds.
Please see the Lewis-Burke report for more information and background on the program.
