Lewis-Burke Associates has provided campus with a report about the Belmont Forum, an international partnership of 39 science organizations and funding institutions, 2024 collaborative research actions (CRAs) to support the work of international research consortiums around selected themes. The first 2024 CRA, the Africa Regional Call (ARC), aims to address climate change vulnerability and risks across the African continent. The second CRA, Tropical Forests: Global Implications and Pressing Actions (FORESTS 2024), seeks to support innovative solutions to environmental challenges in tropical forest regions. U.S. researchers who would like to compete for funding through this mechanism will need to develop a consortium to respond to the CRA that includes researchers from at least three participating countries, each of which will bring resources to support their part of the collaboration. U.S. researchers funded through each of the CRAs will be supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), which intends to support ~10-15 awards through each opportunity of $400,000 each over a three-year period of performance.
The deadline to register interest in the ARC call interest due September 2 and the FORESTS 2024 due November 12.
